Indigenous shared commitment to produce and provide long-term sustainable energy for future generations

Indigenous peoples and Government representatives from around the world will gather for a meeting on the development of resources in a spirit of shared commitment to produce and provide long-term sustainable energy for future generations.


"Consistent with the First Nations rights and our responsibilities as stewards of the land, then we will begin to map the new economic relationships of indigenous peoples which First Nations can and will lead to build our own economy and contributing to Canada's economy in a manner that respects the environment and provide a sustainable future for all citizens of Canada," said the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo, which will be co-chairs of the SUMMIT with a Keel of Jefferson, the President of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI).


"We look forward to continuing our work with Keel President and Chief of the NCAI on energy and the environment, justice and border issues and I look forward to the new discussion among the indigenous peoples globally about how our work together can exceed the limit."


Energy Mining and International indigenous peoples SUMMIT took place at the Niagara Falls 27-June 29, will bring together key representatives of indigenous peoples globally and the Government. Representatives from the United States, China, Brazil, Germany and the private sector and the community will gather to discuss best practices, partnership opportunities, and eventually founded the Virtual Institute of energy and mines First Nation. Indigenous delegations and the representative of Brazil to Nunavut will reaffirm their rights to participate in the development of natural resources.


"In Canada alone, it is estimated that there will be a $ 400000000000 worth of mineral resources development projects in the coming years that affected the region First Nation. This will be very important for projects, and economy of Canada, that First Nations people and the concerns addressed, "said National Chief Atleo."There is also potential for our Residents to be the leading provider of long term energy and environmental security. Ensure that North America can rely on the energy production in the country that have little or no impact on the quality of air and water "


Guest speakers include: Anthony Hodge, President of the International Council on Mining and metals; Ernesto Sirolli, advocacy for sustainable indigenous communities; Nunavut Deputy Prime Minister Peter Taptuna; Ian Anderson, CEO Of Kinder Morgan Pipeline; and 80 other speakers from around the world.


"Our Society can be a full partner in the construction of the pipeline to power lines, of precious metals of potassium to," added the head of the national Atleo. "With the partnership comes full participation of the Division of ownership, income from employment to concern for the environment. We should be involved early and often involved on projects, and the Summit is an example of this principle in action. "
