abandoned the plan.

Protest organiser, Seona Gunn was stunned.

"I'm feeling quite flabbergasted.

I thought we would have a really good fight on our hands," she said.

Mr Kraemer says the decision it as an obvious decision.

"The social issue here has become obvious that there would be very little support for an exploration license," he said.

"We have a responsibility to the community, to the environment and to our shareholders, and it's obvious to me to make the decision that there is not a road forward here." This acquisition was followed by a fundraising exercise including placement $ 257.000.000 stock to a group of investors runway, sales by $ 250 million worth of shares to investors associated with the company and the placement of $ an estimated 80,000,000 to institutional investors.

Together, sharing the left about 95% of Rich Smart in the hands of the new shareholders and the company later changed its name to G-Resources.
Hong Kong registered G-Resources Group, which is in the process developing gold mining and silver in greenfield Indonesia, on Wednesday raised HK $ 1690000000 ($ 217 million) from the sale of new shares in early May after saying that the project would cost about 30% higher than previous estimates.
Morgan Stanley is a placement agent for that whole package fundraising and also acted as sole bookrunner for the top-up placement Wednesday.

Stock prices have been strengthened around 76% during the last 12 months as the company has been making progress on the construction of the first mines. Shareholder base, however, still quite concentrated and the placement of new investors give the opportunity to gain exposure as well. G-Resources has committed not to issue new stock for six months in advance.

This will put the total cost of $ 576.000.000. The company initially said that it intended to fund the additional costs through new bank facilities $ 250.000.000, but when the opportunity to raise more equity presented itself, decided to take profits.
The placement was launched on Wednesday morning, Hong Kong time, after the stock was suspended from trading. The company initially offered approximately 2310000000 shares with the option to allow client transactions with 502.200.000 shares further, or close to 10%. The price was shown between HK $ 0.59 and HK $ 0,62 per share, which translates into a discount of 6.1% to 10.6% compared with the closure Tuesday of HK $ 0.66 and under range is proportional to the size of the deal from about $ 175 million.
The fact that the price of spot gold is trading at a record above $ 1,600 per ounce is one of the contributing factor and, earlier this week, the G-Resources also reported an increase in gold and silver resource base in Indonesia, mining project named Martabe. New discoveries directly to the East of the main holes and increases resource estimate of gold with 233.000 ounces to 6.730.000 ounces of silver and resources with 2.11 million oz to 68.310.000 ounces.

Meanwhile, after a delay due to relocation processing facilities, the company is getting closer to the beginning of production. Late afternoon, investors were told that the deal will be at least partly upsized and when the book is closed there is enough demand to implement the option allows the customer in full.

This prompted the deal for the size of approximately 2810000000 shares, or 20% of the share capital, which is the maximum company might sell it without asking for additional approval from shareholders.

The price was fixed only from the bottom of the range at HK $ 0.60 for discount 9.1%.

There is a demand from traditional asset managers as well as resource-focused funds and hedge funds and more than 40 investors are said to have participated in the deal. Final gold production is not available since assaying is done off site, but is estimated at 6,842 and 9,437 ounces for the respective periods.

At Cozamin, remediation activities in the mine were completed in March, allowing production from the Avoca and 11E stopes to proceed at planned levels. This contributed to higher mined and processed tonnages for the second quarter relative to the first quarter.
At Minto, production exceeded expectations due to the successful implementation of pre-crushing for the SAG mill feed.
The implementation of contract pre-crushing starting in mid-April allowed mill throughput to exceed expectations. May mill throughput set a monthly record of 115,913 tonnes, or 3,739 tonnes/day, and June throughput has continued above plan.
Mill grades were higher than planned in the second quarter due to the delayed entry into the final stage of the Main Pit (Stage 5). Mining of Stage 5, originally planned for the first quarter, was completed in late-April with ore production slightly exceeding expectations. As a result, less lower grade stockpile material was processed in the second quarter.
Higher mill throughput and grade was partially offset by reduced mill recovery. The reduced recovery is partly due to higher throughput and attendant reduced retention time in the floatation circuit. However, issues with the efficiency of the scavenger flotation circuit have been identified and are being corrected, with measurable improvement seen by late-June.
Minto received the amended Quartz Mining License in April and Area 2 pre-stripping and development of the underground portal is proceeding.

Council focused on improving Canada’s mineral reserve )

Fledgling nonprofit organisation the Canada Mining Innovation Council (CMIC) aims to reverse the significant decline of Canada’s reserves through its exploration initiative.

Government department Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) reports a reduction exceeding 80% in lead, zinc and silver reserves, while copper and nickel declined by over half in the past 25 years. Gold reserves in 2008 were around half those recorded in 1995.

“Reserves in Canada have declined substantially and continue to do so; however, this can be countered by putting technologies in place to better identify new ore deposits, both in remote and covered locations, and in deeper locations near existing infrastructure,” says CMIC executive director Tom Hynes.

Canada’s mining industry is a signifi- cant contributor to Canadian prosperity as it employs 308 000 workers in minerals extraction, processing and manufacturing, says the Mining Association of Canada economic affairs VP Paul Stothart. There- fore, development is crucial.

This year, the council aims to implement exploration initiative research projects, as well as define research priorities in its mining, processing and energy initiatives, establish research committees for the tailings and environmental steward- ship initiatives, and continue growth of its membership, which has grown substantially.

“The CMIC was established in February 2009 and is still in an active growth phase. It has increased its membership from 11 to 65 in the past year,” states Hynes.

The council intends to improve the competitiveness of the Canadian mining industry, which contributes about $75.2- billion to exports and some $40.3-billion to the country’s gross domestic product yearly, through the creation of additional research capacity by using virtual centres of excellence and interinstitutional and multidisciplinary collaborative research undertakings.

One such research undertaking was announced in January by the Oil Sands Tailings Consortium, which is a CMIC member. The initiative aims to advance tailings management and involves the NRCan, petroleum producer Imperial Oil, energy and petrochemicals group Shell Canada, sustainable energy company Suncor Energy, crude oil producer Syncrude Canada, diversified miner Teck Resources and Calgary-based energy company Total E&P Canada.

This initiative is intended to foster innovation and collaboration in research and development in the tailings field.

“The issue is not whether we can manage tailings – the issue is whether it can be done better. This relationship is a critical step towards tailings solutions that will accelerate reclamation, using the most advanced environmental measures,” said Shell oil sands development VP John Broadhurst.

The companies have agreed to make tailings technical information more broadly available to industry members, academia, regulators and others interested in collaborating on tailings solutions; to collaborate on tailings-related research and development and technology among companies and with research agencies; to eliminate monetary and intellectual property barriers preventing the use of knowledge and methods related to tailings technology and research and development; and to work to develop an appropriate framework so that tailings information is organised, verified through peer review and kept current.

“This is a tremendously positive step for research into improved technology for managing tailings. These companies are to be congratulated on their foresight and willingness to work together in this way,” said University of Alberta engineering dean Dr David Lynch.

Further, Hynes explains the CMIC is a partnership between industry, govern- ment and the research community, as each group is necessary for the success of the council’s endeavours.

For the rest of this article, please go to the MiningWeekly.com website: http://www.miningweekly.com/article/council-focused-on-improving-canadas-mineral-reserve-2011-07-22

Indigenous shared commitment to produce and provide long-term sustainable energy for future generations

Indigenous peoples and Government representatives from around the world will gather for a meeting on the development of resources in a spirit of shared commitment to produce and provide long-term sustainable energy for future generations.

"Consistent with the First Nations rights and our responsibilities as stewards of the land, then we will begin to map the new economic relationships of indigenous peoples which First Nations can and will lead to build our own economy and contributing to Canada's economy in a manner that respects the environment and provide a sustainable future for all citizens of Canada," said the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo, which will be co-chairs of the SUMMIT with a Keel of Jefferson, the President of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI).

"We look forward to continuing our work with Keel President and Chief of the NCAI on energy and the environment, justice and border issues and I look forward to the new discussion among the indigenous peoples globally about how our work together can exceed the limit."

Energy Mining and International indigenous peoples SUMMIT took place at the Niagara Falls 27-June 29, will bring together key representatives of indigenous peoples globally and the Government.
